Mazama WA

Mazama - Lost RiverA small town composed of the Mazama Store, Mazama Country Inn, North Cascades Base Camp, Mazama Ranch House, Freestone Inn and a few commercial offices located in the north west of the Methow Valley.  It received its name in 1899.  Sources claim Mazama is a Spanish term for a type of mountain deer.  However, most people believe it means mountain goat, since many goats inhabited the steep country around Mazama Washington at one time.

Mazama receives more snow fall than the rest of the valley making it a natural fit for cross country ski enthusiasts and snowmobilers alike.

Mazama boasts access to the  North Cascades,  Pasayten Wilderness, the Methow Valley Trail System and Harts Pass.  Treed and open spaces are greatly protected by conservation easements and state lands.
