Twisp got it's name from an Indian word: “T-wasp”, meaning yellow jacket. Located at the confluence of the Twisp and Methow Rivers, it is the oldest town in the valley and is rich with local history. The widely acknowledged center of the Methow Valley boasts the most full time residents- you never have to look far for action in Twisp.
In the middle of an outdoor recreational paradise, there is a generous helping of culture to be found. Check out the Confluence Art Gallery, catch a play at the Merc Playhouse, drink a local brew at the Twisp River Pub, or spend a lazy Saturday morning at the local Farmers Market. If you are here in the winter, spend a day at the Loup Loup Ski Bowl- small town skiing has never felt so big!
